Bus Route 918

Dear Parents and Carers,

You may not be aware of the 918 bus which runs between Severn Beach and Castle School at school times, bringing students to the Park Road site at the start of the school day and returning them home at the end. It runs through Redwick, Pilning, Easter Compton, Lower Almondsbury, Tockington, Olveston, Old Down and Alveston.

The timetable is attached. As well as the stops listed on the timetable, the bus can stop at the stops in between, as shown on the map at https://journeyplanner.travelwest.info/routes/service/918/48-918-_-y10-1/2 and listed at the bottom of this email. (Please tell students to flag the bus down and make sure the driver sees they are waiting for it.) It is a public bus service and can be used by adults as well as school children.

The service is operated by Eurocoaches. Fares should be paid to the driver on the bus, by card or cash. Fares are the same for adults and children. Prices to Thornbury are:

a) Embarking at any stops between Severn Beach and Lower Almondsbury inclusive: Single £3 Return £4.50

b) Embarking at any stops between Tockington and Alveston inclusive: Single £2 Return £3

The 918 service only runs because a group of parents have been working with South Gloucestershire Council to obtain a significant temporary subsidy. This campaign is continuing, in order to obtain long term support from WECA (West of England Combined Authority), which is needed to secure the bus's future. It would be great if you could add your name to our campaign, so that we can demonstrate support for this bus service when we are negotiating with WECA.
