Pupil Premium & catch-up funding - Closing The Gap
The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is funding from the Government allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point within the last six years. (Ever 6 FSM)
Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, and children of service personnel.
The funding is designed to help bridge the gap in progress, and ensure that all our students are academically successful.

Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch-up Premium
The Literacy and Numeracy Catch-up Premium gives schools additional funding to support year 7 students who did not achieve the expected standard in Reading or Mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2 (year 6). The expected standard is a scaled score of 100 .
This group has been identified by the Government because research shows that nationally, students in these categories do significantly less well than other similar students. The funding is designed to help bridge the gap in progress.
At The Castle School, we are committed to enabling all our students to develop their skills in literacy and numeracy. We believe that success in these core areas helps pave the way for future success across the curriculum and beyond.
