Year 10 Work Experience
The Year 10 work experience week went very well and we are very proud of the students’ engagement. Our students attended a wide variety of placements, which included animal care, conservation, health care, education, hospitality, engineering, law and architecture, to name but a few!
Several students have told us that they have been offered part-time and holiday jobs as a result of their work experience, and a few have even been offered an apprenticeship after they have finished their studies, which is a fantastic achievement. They will each receive a Work Experience Certificate, which should be kept in a safe place, along with their Work Experience Diary, and may be shown to colleges or employers in the future as evidence of work experience.
We are delighted to share some feedback with you from the employers who hosted our Year 10 students:
- She was delightful (and very brave to walk in here in the first instance to ask for a work experience placement) - she who dares wins! Polite, punctual, well-presented, attentive. A credit to herself, her school and her family.
- I was impressed with his enthusiasm, questions and engagement given that it was his first time in an office environment, let alone connected to anything to do with the legal profession.
- He was very mature and hardworking. He was able to work with all members of staff and had excellent communication skills. He was on time each day and listened to instructions well.
- She was a delight to have with us. She was well mannered, listened well to instructions and picked up tasks given to her very quickly. Although she was only with us for a week, she really worked well with the team and was a valued team member. We would not hesitate to have her come back to work for us in the future.
- He was an amazing work experience student - the best we’ve ever had. He was able to work on his own or with others. He was always willing to learn and always showed an interest in what he was doing. He was exceptionally polite, arrived on time and on one occasion stayed late to help put away a very large order and was eager to complete his work book. We have offered him a weekend job!
- He excelled during his week with us - we were very impressed with his creative talent, his professionalism and his willingness to take on new challenges. We would welcome him back again at any time for further work experience and we would employ him if the right opportunity arose.
- Best work experience pupil I have had - very eager to learn and picked it up straight away.
- He is very bright and hard working. I have no doubt he will be a force to be reckoned with when he is in the workplace.
- From the beginning, he built excellent relationships with both the staff and pupils. He demonstrated strong communication skills, engaging well with the children and supporting them effectively in their learning. Overall, he has made a significant contribution to our classroom, and we are incredibly grateful for his hard work. He has shown great potential for working with children and would be an asset to any future role in education or childcare.
- Delighted to have her join us. From the start she showed great enthusiasm, professionalism, and a keen willingness to learn. Credit to Castle School and her parents. She was punctual, adapted to tasks given, demonstrated a strong work ethic and approachable to staff and customers.
- Very employable and looked at home in the gym environment.
- Very good, She was an engaged student with a clear passion for marine biology. She got on incredibly well with the team and her fellow students and had a fantastic attitude. I'm confident that she made the most of the opportunities provided during her placement!
