The Castle School Post 16 Centre is a thriving and successful centre for post-16 education. We have a well-deserved reputation for significant and sustained academic and vocational success in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Our centre of approximately 300 students, some of whom join us from other schools, is based in a dedicated Post 16 Centre. This helps mark the clear transition from GCSE study into more challenging, independent learning and greater freedom of choice. However, the Post 16 Centre remains very much at the heart of The Castle School and we share a common ethos, approach and high academic expectations.
From day one, students enjoy the welcoming and lively atmosphere, where high standards of conduct, learning and achievement are the norm. We believe that young people have a right to a safe, happy, varied and challenging learning experience where every individual student matters and all young people have abilities which must be realised.
The academic standards achieved by our students in external examinations are very high and represent a tradition of which we are very proud. The emphasis placed on learning, both as an independent individual and as a member of a group, continues to be a strong feature throughout Post-16 study. So too does the emphasis on developing the personal qualities of resilience, self-responsibility and integrity.
We believe that academic success is just one aspect of life in the Post 16 Centre. Through our Personal Development programme and our Enrichment Programme, we offer a wider range of opportunities for students to develop their individual talents and interests both inside and outside the classroom. The world is a rapidly changing place and our students emerge as empowered, skilled young adults, well equipped for the challenges they will meet now and in the future.
